Alcohol Licenses

Recently, in an effort to streamline the retail alcohol registration and renewal licensing process the GA Department of Revenue has worked alongside local jurisdictions to establish a centralized, state-wide licensing portal. This web-based secure portal ensures both the Department and local licensing jurisdictions receive, review, and process all retail alcohol applications in the ALP. Beginning October 1st 2022, businesses in Banks County wishing to renew their existing alcohol license should apply for state licensing using the Georgia Tax Center portal. The GTC portal will then direct you to apply with your local jurisdiction as well. The Banks County Planning Department will automatically receive your application and review it in office. Once we have received payment, we will send your license out to you. It is imperative that your renewal packet is submitted through the GTC portal no later than November 15th, as this allows time for processing background checks prior to the approval meeting in December. The GTC portal can be accessed at https://gtc.dor.ga.gov

An alcohol license is issued in addition to a business license if your business sells and/or dispenses alcoholic beverages. Business owners will be required to submit to a background check annually and have fingerprints on file.
